The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has swept off all the Local Government Areas in a landslide win in the elections concluded, Saturday, in Bayelsa State, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not participate in the elections due to alleged irregularities.
Mr. Frank Ebikumor, INEC’s Returning Officer, announced in Yenagoa, Sunday, that the PDP’s Dengiye Ubarugu polled 42,539 votes to sweep the polls in the Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA. The ADC, in the second place, polled only a paltry 1,031.
Dr. Nwiwu Johnson, the Southern-Ijaw Returning Officer, announced that Mr. Nigeria Kia of the PDP polled 107,150 votes, against the AD’s 2,489.
The Returning Officer of the Ekeremor LGA, Dr. Victor Ayibatonye, announced Chief Perekeme Petula, also of the PDP, as winner, with 62,529 votes, as other parties had no vote, at all.
Equally, in the Sagbama LGA, Governor Seriake Dickson’s own local government, the Returning Officer, Dr. Thankgod Apere, announced the PDP’s Mr. Alah Embeleakpo, winner, with 96,468 votes, as other parties also recorded no votes, at all.
It was slightly different in the Brass LGA, as the Returning Officer, Mr. Timothy Ogiaba announced Mr. Victor Isaiah of the same PDP, winner, with 28,667 votes, against the Labour Party’s 2,948 votes.
Ogbia LGA had the PDP’s Mr. Turner Ebinyo sweeping the polls with 17,661 votes, to emerge winner, against the ADC’s score of 1,017, as announced by the Returning Officer, Mr. Ebiye Ogoli.
In Yenagoa, the Returning Officer, Mr. Goodhead Abraham declared Mr. Uroupaye Nimizuoa, winner, with 98,831 votes, to defeat the ADC’s Lawrence Kwokwo, who polled 636 votes.
Dr. Remember Ogbe, BYSIEC Chairman, in his remarks, noted that the entire process was peaceful in all the areas where the elections were conducted.
