A great Igbo patriarch, Dr. Dozie Onyeanusi Ikedife, a former Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo has joined his ancestors.
Dr. Ikedife passed on yesterday, Tuesday December 11, 2018, at about 7 pm local time, aged 88. The news has been confirmed by his son, Dozie Ikedife Jr. who also said he would be interred today, Wednesday December 12, at about 5 pm, in his compound, in Nnewi.
Jointly awarded the title of ‘Ikuku Ebu Nkpu’, by 14 communities of the Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Local Governments of Anambra State, Dr. Ikedife was a highly revered leader, political figure and medical practitioner, who would be greatly missed for his courage, forthrightness and, more often than not, his radical views and thinking.
An obstetrician, gynecologist and researcher of great repute, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree of the University of London in 1958 and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, (MBBS) University of Glasgow, Scotland in 1959, among other medical qualifications.
The chief also held a doctorate degree in Public Administration, from World University, Tucson, Oklahoma, United States of America. Traditionally, he held the titles of Ikenga Nnewi and Odezuligbo Umueje.
His funeral obsequies and final burial rites would be announced by his family later, after his burial, today.
